You're Not Alone

Depression isn't always sadness

Heaviness, numbness, or a flatness that won't lift

Losing interest in things that used to matter

Exhaustion that sleep doesn't seem to fix

A harsh inner critic or a sense of hopelessness

Withdrawing from people, even ones you love

Struggling to concentrate or make decisions

You don't need a diagnosis or the "right" words to begin. If some of this feels familiar, that's reason enough to reach out.

A Moment to Reflect

How long have you been telling yourself that this is just how things are?

If sitting with these stirred something, that feeling is worth listening to. You don't need to have the answers to begin — therapy is simply a place to explore them, gently and at your pace. Book a free consultation →

Our Approach to Healing

Whole-person care — mind, emotion & body

Depression touches how you think, how you feel, and how your body carries the weight. We draw together evidence-based and experiential approaches, always at a pace that feels safe — because lasting change happens when the whole of you is included.

The Mind · Cognitive

Thoughts & patterns

Working with the thoughts, beliefs, and patterns that keep you stuck — building practical skills for clarity and choice, drawing on CBT, DBT, and ACT.

The Emotions · Experiential

Feelings & parts of you

Turning toward what you feel, and the different parts of you, so emotion becomes something you can understand and move through — drawing on EFT and IFS.

The Body · Somatic

Nervous system & body

Low mood often settles in the body as fatigue and heaviness; gentle body-based work helps restore aliveness. We include body-based, nervous-system work because change has to be felt, not just understood.

A Holistic Lens

Understanding depression — the whole picture

Depression is often treated as an absence — of energy, motivation, or feeling. We see it as something the whole of you is doing for a reason. When a loss, a hurt, or a need has had nowhere to go, the system can turn the volume down on everything to keep it bearable. The flatness is protective, even when it aches.

Depression is rarely just an absence. Often it's the weight of something unfelt, pressing everything flat.

A holistic lens looks past the low mood to the whole picture — the person, the history, and the life around them. What once mattered that has quietly slipped into the background? And what is your body carrying — the heaviness, the tiredness — that words haven't reached? Sometimes what looks like "nothing" is a great deal, held very still.

Depression often deepens in the gap between what we feel and what we let ourselves feel. Sadness with nowhere to go, anger that felt unsafe to have, grief that was never finished — pushed down, they don't disappear; they settle as weight. The effort of keeping them down is part of the exhaustion.

Change begins not by forcing yourself to feel better, but by gently making contact with what's underneath — in the present, at a pace you can bear. As those feelings find expression, and as your whole system feels more met, the heaviness has less it needs to hold down.

A Different Kind of Support

How we help with depression

Depression often convinces you that nothing will help and that this is simply how things are. We gently question that story — not by arguing with it, but by turning toward what you're actually feeling underneath the numbness. Often there's grief, anger, or exhaustion that hasn't had room to be felt. Making space for it, safely and without pressure, is where movement begins.

Together we rebuild in small, doable steps — reconnecting with what gives your days meaning, softening the inner critic, and helping your body come back online through gentle activation and nervous-system care. You set the pace. Our role is to walk alongside you until the heaviness begins to lift and you feel more like yourself again.

Recovery here isn't about forcing positivity. It's about small returns — a morning that feels a little easier, interest flickering back, a kinder inner voice. As those moments accumulate, the ground under you steadies, and the future begins to feel like it belongs to you again.

Common Questions

Questions, answered

Is what I'm feeling really depression?
Only an assessment can say for sure, but you don't need a label to deserve support. If low mood, numbness, or lost motivation has lingered, therapy can help — and we can talk it through together.
Can therapy help if I've felt this way for years?
Yes. Long-standing low mood often responds well to a steady, whole-person approach. Change may be gradual, but it's very possible.
Do I need medication?
That's a decision for you and your physician. Therapy can help alongside medication or on its own — we'll support whatever path is right for you and never pressure you either way.
How do I get started?
Reach out for a free consultation. Susan, our Client Care Manager, will listen to what's going on and match you with the therapist best suited to you.
