You're Not Alone

Emotional dysregulation takes many forms

Anger that flares faster or bigger than the moment calls for

Feeling flooded, then saying or doing things you regret

Shutting down or going numb when emotions get intense

Guilt or shame after emotional outbursts

Tension in relationships because of how conflict goes

A sense that your reactions are "too much" or out of your control

You don't need a diagnosis or the "right" words to begin. If some of this feels familiar, that's reason enough to reach out.

A Moment to Reflect

What is your anger trying to tell you that you haven't yet heard?

If sitting with these stirred something, that feeling is worth listening to. You don't need to have the answers to begin — therapy is simply a place to explore them, gently and at your pace. Book a free consultation →

Our Approach to Healing

Whole-person care — mind, emotion & body

Anger is a whole-person signal — thought, feeling, and body together. We draw together evidence-based and experiential approaches, always at a pace that feels safe — because lasting change happens when the whole of you is included.

The Mind · Cognitive

Thoughts & patterns

Working with the thoughts, beliefs, and patterns that keep you stuck — building practical skills for clarity and choice, drawing on CBT, DBT, and ACT.

The Emotions · Experiential

Feelings & parts of you

Turning toward what you feel, and the different parts of you, so emotion becomes something you can understand and move through — drawing on EFT and IFS.

The Body · Somatic

Nervous system & body

Big emotions surge through the body first; somatic skills help you notice the wave early and stay regulated. We include body-based, nervous-system work because change has to be felt, not just understood.

A Holistic Lens

What your anger is protecting

Anger is often treated as the problem to be controlled — something to suppress, manage, or apologise for. We see it as information. Anger is rarely random; it's a signal from the whole of you that something matters — a boundary crossed, a need unmet, a hurt that hasn't been heard.

Anger isn't the problem to silence. It's a messenger — and it's usually pointing at something real.

A holistic lens looks past the flare to the whole picture. The anger is what's in the foreground; often something quieter sits behind it — hurt, fear, grief, or a need that never had words. What is your anger actually guarding? And what happens in your body in the seconds before it rises?

Two things tend to keep anger stuck: forcing it down until it leaks or erupts, and venting it without ever hearing what it's about. Both skip the step that matters — making contact with the need underneath. Anger that's never understood stays loud, because it hasn't yet been heard.

Regulation isn't about becoming someone who never feels angry. It's being able to notice the signal in the present, feel what's beneath it, and answer the real need — so the charge can settle. As what's been unfinished finds expression, the anger has less it needs to defend.

A Different Kind of Support

How we help with anger & emotional regulation

Anger is rarely the whole story — underneath it there's often hurt, fear, or a need that hasn't been met. Without judgment, we slow the moment down and pay attention to what happens just before you flood or shut down: the trigger, the sensation, the split-second story. Noticing that sequence in real time is what creates the gap where choice becomes possible.

From there we build practical regulation skills — ways to catch the wave early, settle your body, and stay present instead of reacting or numbing. We also make room to understand what your anger has been protecting. This isn't about suppressing emotion; it's about having more freedom in how you meet it, so your reactions match what you actually want.

Progress looks like a longer pause between trigger and reaction — enough room to choose. Clients describe fewer moments they regret, calmer conversations, and relationships that feel safer, because their responses finally match their intentions.

Common Questions

Questions, answered

Is this the same as an anger-management class?
It's more personal than a class. Rather than only teaching techniques, we help you understand what drives your reactions and build regulation from the inside out.
What if I shut down rather than blow up?
That counts too. Numbing and withdrawal are also forms of dysregulation, and the same whole-person approach helps.
Can you help with anger in my relationship?
Yes — individually, and we can discuss couples support if that would help. Many clients come specifically because of how conflict is affecting the people they love.
How do I start?
Book a free consultation. Susan, our Client Care Manager, will match you with a therapist experienced in this work.
